Trappespenst, a.k.a. Plyometric Stair Jumping

While watching part of the documentary on Mikko Salo, I couldn’t help but notice the brief clip of Mikko doing a short plyometric series of hurdle jumps at the track.  These types of jumping drills seem to be fairly common throughout Scandinavia in particular.

An interesting variation on your typical box-jump or hurdle approach is what the Norwegians call “trappespenst” or “stair jumping.”  Have a look at this example from what appears to be a Norwegian ski team.  Then go seek out your own stairwell (the more stories the better) and give it a try yourself!
